What do we mean by folk music?

We take the view that folk music is music that folk play.

So, in a typical club night, you will hear a wide range of music, typically but not exclusively of a folk, roots & acoustic style. We have a PA system which performers are welcome to use (or not as they prefer).

The performers may accompany themselves on an instrument or sing unaccompanied. We even have occasional poems or monologues.

How many songs can I play?

That depends on the attendance on the night!

We tend to alternate between two different formats:

• floor spots where each performer will do two songs with a possible extra one after the break if there is time
• and a singaround format where each person performs one song in turn. We go round the circle as many times as possible during the evening. Typically, this will mean 3-4 songs per performer.

How do I join?

We don't have a membership fee. Just come along and join in!
